Information
Start: 24 April 2021 11:30am EDT (15:30 UTC) - End: 24 April 2021 12:30pm EDT (16:30 UTC)

In September 2020 Peter Martin got an idea to create a new website: the-best-website.com.
It's a website about best practices for websites:

  • what makes a website a good website
  • what you can do to improve your own website
  • test that you can do on your own website

Two months later Peter launched his new website, a Joomla multilingual website with five languages and every language under its own top level domain:

  • English: The best website: https://the-best-website.com/
  • German: Die beste Website: https://die-beste-website.de/
  • French: Le meilleur site web: https://le-meilleur-site-web.fr/
  • Spanish: El mejor sitio web: https://el-mejor-sitio-web.es/
  • Dutch: De beste website: https://de-beste-website.nl/

In this presentation Peter will tell you about the idea and show you how he has built his website using:

  • Joomla 3.9 + core multilingual functionality
  • Yootheme Pro Template and Page Builder, using dynamic content
  • d2 Content Pro for an optimized back-end article edit screen
  • PWT SEO for SEO optimization
  • JCH Optimize for JS/CSS minification
  • OSMap for HTML/XML sitemap
  • JCE editor
  • Akeeba Backup
  • RSForms Pro
  • HTTP Headers
  • Google Structured Data

and

  • a system plugin to display each language under its own top level domain name
  • Custom 404 error pages for each language
  • Google analytics code for each language / top level domain
